Donate to the PAWS Disaster Relief efforts to provide critical medical care—including medicine, vaccines, spay/neuter procedures—for homeless dogs and cats, including those impacted by the July 4 flash floods in the Texas Hill Country.

BACKGROUND
PAWS Chicago’s Disaster Relief Team is partnering with local organizations to transport pets who were already in shelters before the floods began—making room for animals who have been newly displaced and allowing local resources to focus on reuniting families with their beloved pets.

On July 14, PAWS Chicago welcomed 22 dogs and puppies at Nebraska City Municipal Airport, following their arrival on a Wings of Rescue flight from Concho Valley PAWS, a rescue organization based in San Angelo, Texas. PAWS volunteers stood by to greet them and begin the final leg of their journey—driving over 500 miles to bring them safely to Chicago. The animals arrived at the PAWS Chicago Kocourek Medical Center late that evening, where they began receiving comprehensive medical care, vaccinations, and any additional attention needed before being placed into loving homes.

On Wednesday, July 16, PAWS Chicago received another lifesaving transport from Austin Pets Alive!—a rescue organization that has been on the ground since the flooding began, supporting overwhelmed Texas shelters and leading lifesaving rescue and recovery efforts in the hardest-hit communities. PAWS volunteers met the Dog Is My CoPilot flight at Waukesha County Airport in Wisconsin and transported additional animals to the PAWS Chicago Medical Center for treatment, rehabilitation, and eventually, new homes.
