PAWS Chicago, the Midwest’s leading No Kill humane organization, will welcome 25 beagles rescued from Ridglan Farms, a dog breeding and biomedical research facility in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, which agreed to surrender its DATCP (state) breeding license effective July 1, 2026 to avoid criminal prosecution for civil animal cruelty violations according to the State of Wisconsin Circuit Court.
Having spent their lives in a research breeding environment, these dogs were kept in wire cages according to a Wisconsin state investigation. These beagles will soon begin their journey towards healing, recovery and eventual adoption.
The PAWS Chicago animal behavior team will perform behavioral assessments, and develop the behavior and training plans, while the PAWS veterinary team will ensure all medical needs are met. The Medical Center provides specialized intake and care for these under-socialized dogs, ensuring they receive compassionate, low-stress handling, a well-planned transition into a home environment, and the medical treatment they need as they begin their path toward safety and healing.
Your support makes it possible for PAWS to step up when a crisis strikes. Give these dogs a second chance to find loving families here in Chicago by making a gift today.
